You can’t really go wrong at lone star, try different baits and areas and times of day and have fun seeing what you catch. I'm sure others will come along who are more knowledgeable about the game (and fishing in general tbh) to help you out but there's something to get you going. If you want to catch the spotted bass (the fish worth the most at lone star) you’ll want something in the 6 pound range and either a float setup (with a bobber) or a cast setup (with a bass jig). Lots of good videos on YouTube to help you out too, if you need more in-depth advice. I'd recommend setting up a rod with a casting spoon to catch bass where you're at (Lone Star Lake, unless you've moved on already) for money and xp, though doing the missions are a decent way to supplement your cash and xp since you'll be there for a while anyway. Nothing wrong with a bobber setup I guess, I just don't like it in the game, which is funny since I usually always fish irl with a bobber setup and/or a bottom setup, only using a lure if I'm not getting any good bites off of my normal setups (location matters too though, but that's getting technical) This slow and steady movement of your lure or bait can help entice even the most timid fish to come out from hiding and strike.I'm no expert (I do fish irl but it's always been either using a bobber, which I don't use in-game, using a lure or fishing bottom with just a sinker or two) but I use a rod with a open-faced reel a lure (forget what the rod types and reel types are called in-game, forgive me) for catching predatory fish like bass and such, and a bottom setup (believe for an early bottom setup you can use what they call "feeder" rods in-game) to fish for (depending on the map) either more of what I'm catching with the lure setup or something different Cast a bit outside of a heavy vegetation area and let the breeze move it in further for you. The game can use this to automatically forward a port from the router to the computer. Pike / Crappie is good exp / cash and you can use that rod / reel for it too. If at lvl 10, I would try bobber fishing in NY. Setup : Rod OmniFloat 350, Reel WinCast 2500, Line, Mono 0.2mm. Enable uPnP (universal plug and play) on your router. 4.5-star quality Match rod 4.2 m long with 12-36g test and max load capacity of 41.5 kg. Wind can be a big help in getting your set up into areas you may not be able to cast directly into. Depending on your computer and/or router configuration, you may experience problems when connecting to game servers. If the float or slip bobber is angled in various directions and not specifically in the direction of the current, you may need to add more split shots to your hook or lure to get more weight as it is not hanging properly below the float and into the water column at the depth you desire. If it is angled in the direction of the current, you may need to adjust your depth so your hook is a bit higher. Watch Your Float!Īlways make sure your float or slip bobber is straight up and down in a fully vertical position. To accomplish these two tasks well, the drag system needs to allow a smooth, continuous release across its possible settings. A drag does more than create resistance for a fighting fish it also protects your fishing line from sudden shocks. Not to mention the eyelets on your rod may cause a thick line to become snagged if you are trying to run a knot through the rings. Your first reel A good reel begins with an awesome drag system. The last thing you want is for a knot to be weakened by friction and have the line snap when you have a big fish hooked.Īlso keep in mind that larger weight line might not fit well into some spinning reels or other reel styles. Additionally, if you are using any slip floats or weights, be sure you inspect your slack line knots for damage every second or third cast.
